Android Q is the latest release of the android operating system succeeding its pie variant. Why Google choose to end the norm in using crunchy names to just picking the letter Q, ain't clear at the moment but certainly, Q sounds ok for its 2019 timeframe. Android Q introduces lots of subtle improvements, that leaves the OS much to enjoy of the innovative future and even a worthy participant along with IOS 13. Below are some of the Key features we look forward to enjoy in Android Q beta 3.
Android Q will be more gesture based with the removal of the on-screen back button replaced with swiping the edges of the screen to go back. A longer home onscreen button than the one in Android pie(p).
- Dark mode theming option. Both the notification panel and third party apps can be customised with dark mode.
- Live caption or live subtitles: live transcript of a video in play is displayed. This will be of help to the hearing impaired. There is also a live relay which simply does the opposite by reading out written content, very vital for the visually challenged.
- Google will now also allow onscreen recording that can be activated from the Developer options menu on android Q.
- Additional customization to the vibration intensity. You can make adjustments to vibration intensity selection as it suits your environment.
- A more convenient WiFi sharing through scanning of bar code with the WiFi password visible on the barcode screen.
- More control to battery saver, choose when it turns off.
Remember, most Android OEM devices will be expected to enjoy just 2 - 3 generations of updates to their OS.
